Paul Plamondon

  • Specialties: Learning and Instructional Design
  • Firm: Custom Training Design
  • Location: Santa Barbara, CA

Paul Plamondon works with individuals, teams, and companies that need help developing business solutions related to employee development and training. With a Masters Degree in Education and hands-on experience working inside small and large companies, where he has trained employees and developed training solutions since 1988, Paul helps ease the pain that internal training providers often experience when faced with creating and facilitating training.

Paul focuses on developing solutions for the classroom that promote on-the-job application and business results. His approach is a blending of traditional instructional systems design, adult learning theory, coaching techniques, and creativity that balance the science of learning, the art of instruction, and the needs of the business. His approach honors the existing knowledge and experience of learners, and incorporates a range of learning modalities to ensure that all participants have an opportunity to find meaning, connection, and practical application in whatever they are learning.

Paul’s focus also takes him beyond the classroom and into the realm of the actual workplace where many influences can either encourage or undermine on-the-job application of newly acquired knowledge and skills. To whatever extent is possible, Paul will address these influences and design solutions that promote on-the-job application. In the end, his approach honors the company’s needs to have a skilled workforce.

Whether Paul is designing a course that addresses technical skills or one that teaches interpersonal skills, Paul’s goal is to create learning experiences that improve performance, achieve the agreed-upon results, and create value for participants, the company, and the customers they serve.

Paul is a believer in lifelong learning and, in 2002, earned his MS degree in Education from Capella University. He is a member of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), and the national and Los Angeles chapters of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
