Senior and Executive Leadership Training Course

The Enduring Leader® in Detail:

The Case for Traits Based Leadership Development

The Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) has documented a series of disturbing leadership lapses. And the National Association of Corporate Directors, along with a 2004 CLC survey of 276 large companies, is sounding the alarm:

•    More than 80% of those large companies feel they have an ineffective leadership succession process.
•    The majority confirm that the greatest long-term threat to their success is a lack of successors to senior leadership positions.
•    Too many CEO succession practices don’t work – even in almost half of all American companies with revenues of $500 million or more

Observation:  Based on the results, companies are not getting ROI for the expense.

Conclusion:  Companies are developing the right group, but with the wrong content.  Why? Because the important elements to learn are very difficult to teach.  Leadership is a practice.

Solution:  Focus on the universal traits-based competencies leaders need to practice in order to be effective.

New technology will get us only so far in addressing, and solving, the critical issues we currently face. The most pressing problems, ultimately, can only be solved by the minds of highly trained, highly effective global leaders.

The Enduring Leader® development process focuses on learning the universal traits of enduring leaders and teaches participants how to develop, retain and use these crucial traits in every day leadership situations.

"I attended the September ODN-GDR meeting facilitated by Betsey Upchurch of Bristlecone Learning, and it was superb! The subject matter of Betsey's presentation was "The Link Between Culture and Success!" and it was incredibly enlightening. Betsey provided a look of at how she, as a Subject Matter Expert, uses the mission critical leadership factors of: Adaptability, Mission, Involvement and Consistency in the business culture, how these factors affect the overall success of the business, and how the culture of the business can be changed by whole orders of magnitude affecting the bottom-line for the better.
