Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Group Problem-Solving
We help you and your people resolve disputes that drain time and energy and help you find better, more creative solutions and build consensus to increase commitment and accelerate implementation. More than that, as part of the process we can also teach you to the skills, principles and processes to improve your ability to resolve similar situations in the future.
When hired to mediate a dispute between people or groups that are likely to have an ongoing relationship, for example, we recommend a four-step process:
1. Train the parties in negotiation skills. This helps the parties to learn to effectively pursue their interests in the negotiation. It also gives the parties a common vocabulary, and can help begin the process of breaking down barriers between the sides.
2. Mediate the dispute. Our highly trained and experienced conflict resolution professionals can help people find sustainable solutions to most any conflict that may divide them.
3. Plan for implementation and evaluation. A key part of any mediated agreement is a clear plan for implementing the agreement, evaluating the results, and, if necessary, revisiting the agreement.
4. Capture learning. Once the training and mediation are complete, we work with the parties to identify critical “lessons learned,” not only about the issue or issues in dispute but also about the conflict resolution process and any deeper issues in the relationship or the organization.
We consult with organizations wishing to evaluate or create a conflict management system.
