Details
Here is an excerpt from Emotional Intelligence, the best selling book by Daniel Goleman:
'Much evidence testifies that people who... manage their own feelings well, and who read and deal effectively with other people's feelings - are at an advantage in any domain of life... more likely to be content and effective in their lives, mastering the habits of mind that foster their own productivity...'
Participants learn innovative and proven ways to control negative emotions that impede cooperation, creativity, and productivity.
Learning Outcomes
- How to assume total responsibility for one's behavior and attitudes. How to assist others to do the same
- How to resolve conflicts with cool - headed confidence
- How to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, spouses, children and others
- How to turn adverse events into opportunities for learning and growth
- How to work cooperatively and effectively in teams, 'leaving personal agendas at the door.'
- How to recognize and deal with our own and others’ 'victim mentality' at work or at home
The Accountable Workplace is engaging and experiential. In a combination of short lectures, discussion, role-play, and experiential exercises participants look at not only their personal attitudes but also how individual and group “victim mentality” is perpetuated in the work setting. Exploring what victim mentality costs on the job and at home gives reason to stop blame, complaining, judging and criticizing. Action planning helps move from understanding and desire for responsibility to learning, practicing, and supporting total responsibility.
